Become a Joy Sponsor
Friends.
Did you know that I give a lot of my paintings away for free? I make a note with every painting I share that there’s a “suggested price”, but that I don’t want money to be a barrier between somebody and a piece of art that sparked some JOY and nostalgia in their heart; and so I tell people that if they can’t pay the “suggested price”, they can make an offer (even $0) and I’ll drop it in the mail for them - no questions asked, no counter offers made.
Now.
I’ve been told that this isn’t the best “business model”, it’s not the best way to “make money”. A while back, in fact, I had a piece that took me a week or so to make with lots of different elements and media-types included. I listed it over $300, but the person who really loved it could only pay for shipping and so with no reluctance, I packed it up, put my “What If Project” stickers on the box, and sent it off where today it hangs on that person’s wall and brings them smiles and joy.
I love it. For me, it’s truly not about the money, and I have zero interest in making a successful “business model”.
BUT.
The money does help, right? When someone offers to pay for a piece of art, it’s thrilling for me and I am so grateful as the money goes to (1) help buy more art supplies (paints, canvases, brushes, etc.) and (2) towards our monthly grocery bill … not to mention the fact that someone thinks my art is worthy of being purchased with their own hard-earned money - such a weirdly amazing feeling.
Anyways.
Regardless of whether or not it’s a “successful business model”, I will continue to do what I do with my art because, again, the goal is for the colors and characters and vibe of each piece to awaken joy and nostalgia in people’s hearts.
That said.
Do you want to help make it easier for me to offer paintings for free to people who really want one because of the JOY it brings them, but don’t have the room in their budget to buy one? I’m starting a “Joy Sponsor” option on the whatifproject.net/art website where if you have room in your budget to buy a painting and you appreciate the work I do, but don’t really want anything I’ve made - you can donate anywhere from $50 to $500 to “sponsor” the joyous pieces of art I give away. That money will be used in the same way it would if it came from someone who was buying a piece of art for themselves or as a gift - to purchase more supplies, and to help with the monthly groceries.
The Siepert’s are grateful for each of you who support the work of the What If Project, whether it be financial (via purchasing art, Patreon, Substack, etc) or with words of encouragement and the love shared via comments and emails and likes and shares. And this is just another option to help support the LOVE AND JOY we’re spreading if you are able / feel a nudge to do so.
Again, the sponsor link can be found on the whatifproject.net/art site (towards the bottom of the page, after the canvases that are for sale / have been sold) and you can either choose an amount listed or insert your own amount.
Thank you for being here on the journey with us.
Much love,
