Bi-Weekly Episodes, Making Space, and Groceries
Friends.
For those of you who listen to the podcast, I wanted to remind you that we’ll be going into a (mostly) bi-weekly format in 2024.
Why?
The project has evolved and continues to evolve. What started as a podcast back in 2018 is now a …
Podcast.
Blog.
YouTube Channel.
Art Studio.
Media Helpline.
… And more.
Not only that, but I’m in a season of life where my faith is (once again) exploding and evolving and coming apart in the best of ways as I explore a more mystically-minded faith that is oriented around Oneness and Interconnectedness and Unity and Compassion - ideas that are NEW to me and deserve my attention and focus.
Yes.
I have a stack of books I’m reading and conversations on deck about ideas and thoughts I don’t really have the words for yet.
The Power of Bridging by John Powell.
Sage Warrior by Valarie Kaur.
A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson.
Cherished Belonging by Fr. Gregory Boyle.
Outraged by Kurt Gray.
And by Felicia Murrell.
These books (and many others) are stretching me and breaking me and giving me a lot to process, meditate on, and wonder about.
Preparing (sometimes multiple) interviews every week on top of editing audio and video every week all the while doing the graphics / social media things I do for Alexander John Shaia, Bart Ehrman, and others while trying to paint more and continue to engage and give attention to my inner child … it’s a lot … and I just don’t have the space to do it all.
And so I’ve opted to move the podcast to bi-weekly for 2025 to give myself …
Space to read.
Space to write.
Space to process.
Space to make art.
Now. There may be times where we do episodes on back to back weeks. I have people scheduled to come on the show who have books coming out and I promised to get episodes out around their release time. I will also have a bit of a backlog of episodes that I don’t want to sit on for too long. And so there may be times in the Spring when episodes release on back to back weeks, but for the most part - they will drop every other week starting January 27.
The last episode of 2024 will be on December 16 with Bruce Pagano who will be talking to us about how certainty has the power to kill important aspects of spiritual growth.
AND.
The 1st episode of season EIGHT of the show (can you believe it?! EIGHT SEASONS!) and of 2025 will be on January 27 with Justin Scoggins who will be talking to us about the Bible, Tattoos, and Art.
And so if you’re following along with the math, the podcast will be quiet for about a month as I enjoy Jordan’s THREE-ish weeks off of school (we will have some toys to play with!) and ease myself into the journey that will be 2025.
Interviews will begin again in January with a REDUCED schedule. I had a lot of people scheduled that I had to cancel/postpone in an effort to give myself the space I mentioned above. I opted to keep some of the NEW guests scheduled while canceling/postponing most of the REPEAT guests.
In January I’ll be talking to Stuart Semple about his book, Make Art of Die Trying. We’ll be talking about art and creativity and navigating the voice of the inner critic.
I’ll also be talking to Dana Hicks about his book, Thin Places and what it looks like to be a spiritual person post-deconstruction.
As the year rolls on we’ll be talking to …
Judika Illes about Witches and Witchcraft.
Julia O’Brien about the prophets of the Bible being more than “activists” and rethinking the “prophetic roots of social justice”.
John Powell about building bridges.
Rob Bell will be back on.
Brandon Andress.
Father Gregory Boyle.
Brandan Robertson.
… Lots of fun lined up for season 8, but it all starts with a deep breath on December 16.
Also.
As a reminder, if you want to support the project you can do that through Substack or via Patreon. I have removed ALL PAYWALLS from the stuff I create, but you still have the option to give if you can and feel that the project has encouraged you in your journey.
Yes.
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, we have lost a lot of support in 2024 - some because of financial reasons, others because they don’t appreciate where my journey is taking me.
BUT.
We keep pressing in and pressing on.
My family is grateful for every single supporter, we use your generous gifts (literally) to put food on the table as it goes primarily towards our monthly groceries. And so every time we put food on the table or pack Jordan’s lunchbox, we thank the Divine for you and your generosity.
Much love and many thanks for being on this journey with me.
