This Is Not the End

Friends.

The other morning I pulled ONE tarot card and ONE Christ Consciousness card and these were the cards I ended up with - The Five of Cups and Resurrection / Embrace New Life cards.

The Five of Cups - can you relate to this guy? He’s got 5 cups and 3 tipped over. And what’s he do? He does what I do when I find myself in similar situations - he hangs his head and locks his eyes on the cups that fell over all the while remaining completely oblivious to the 2 cups behind him that are still standing.

Yes.

This card reminds us that when something doesn’t go as planned, all is not lost.

The loss of a job isn’t the end.

The loss of a relationship isn’t the end.

The death of a loved one isn’t the end.

The ending of a good season of life isn’t the end.

The thing you lost isn’t the end of the road.

And so rather than focus our attention on what has spilled from the cups that got knocked over, this card reminds us that we would be wise to grieve the loss (grieving isn’t important - feel what you feel!) without forgetting that we still have other cups that are standing, full of goodness, and in need of our love and attention.

“All is not lost” - that’s the message, I think.

And then Resurrection / Embrace New Life - when our cups tip over and the things we worked so hard for come spilling out all over the place … this is the moment when life CAN begin anew.

Right?

That’s the heart of the Jesus story, I think - that when all seemed to be lost, the love and grace and compassion of Christ ushered in the power of God to bring about new life.

Can we believe that?

Do we dare believe that?

Do we dare to believe that our broken dreams are not the end of the road? That the darkness we feel might not be an abyss, but a womb? That something good and new is about to be birthed amidst the darkness and pain that we feel?

Yes.

All is not lost.

AND.

New life is coming.

I hope that encourages you.

Much love,

Glenn Siepert
